Annemieke Stössel-LubAnnemieke Stössel-Lub, “Diplom” graduate in translation

Annemieke Stössel-Lub received her training as a translator to state-recognized Diplom level at the School for Translators and Interpreters, Zurich. She works part-time as translator for a large Swiss logistics corporation where she is responsible inter alia for IT-related translation matters (training courses, maintenance of the translation databases, etc.). She also works on an independent basis; since 1999 she has been a freelance translator managing her own company “apoint translations”.

The one-person company that is now apoint translations was founded in July 1999 as “A. Lub Übersetzungen”. Already in the first year of its existence this small company – thanks to the high-quality translation work it produced – was able to position itself on the market very successfully. In 2000 with the introduction of Trados Translator's Workbench, computer-aided translation (CAT) software, the company continued its healthy growth. In subsequent years the company steadily expanded its spectrum of services. In 2003 Annemieke Stössel-Lub started holding courses for translators in the use of Trados. In July 2003 the company changed its name to “apoint translations”. This new name was needed to reflect our growing business and – based on the French “à point” (meaning “exactly correct and punctual”) – serves to underscore the principles of our corporate philosophy. A new design and a new Internet presence round off this new departure.
